Message from ISCoS President Dr Ali Jamous
I am delighted to invite you to the 3rd International Regional Symposium of the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) that will be taking place between 19–20 November 2024 in the great city of Ljubljana, Slovenia. This meeting is also being supported by the European Society of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine (ESPRM).
As you know, spinal cord damage due to injury or disease is a life changing condition that requires the input of large number of professionals and meetings like these enable professionals from all disciplines to get together to present their latest scientific work, network with colleagues, debate and discuss the latest development as well as interact with consumers’ representative. It will be a meeting for all those whose passion is to advance the care and treatment of spinal injured persons.
While we value the get together with colleagues from around the world at the Annual Scientific Meetings of ISCoS, the great success of the first regional symposium in collaboration with the Latin American Society of Paraplegia and our 2nd Symposium in Korea held this year has made us certain that organising regional symposia is of great benefit to those practitioners from a defined geographical area with a lot in common in every respect, is of great value to the clinicians of that region.
“As the president of ISCoS, I hope many professionals from all disciplines involved in the care of spinal cord damage persons will be able to attend this international regional symposium which I am sure will be a highly engaging meeting.”
Message from ESPRM President Dr Klemen Grabljevec
Dear colleagues, friends and all stakeholders in the field of spinal cord injury !
It is a great honour for me to be a co-host of the 3rd International Regional Symposium, organized jointly between the ISCoS and the ESPRM – European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in my home town of Ljubljana.
The mission of ESPRM is to advance the science and practice of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by fostering interdisciplinary research and collaboration to enhance knowledge and understanding of human functioning and disability, providing education and training opportunities for healthcare professionals, researchers and students to promote evidence-based practice and advocating for policies and programs that support access to high-quality rehabilitation services for individuals with disabilities.
Therefore this International Regional Symposium serves ideally as the chance to transfer the knowledge gained by research to the practitioners working in the field of SCI as everyday clinical practice for the benefit of our clients and persons with SCI.
Slovenia, and its capital city Ljubljana, are both wonderful destinations. A safe and relatively inexpensive city with much to offer, Ljubljana has been termed a green capital of Europe. It enjoys a rich history of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, with names such as Milan Dimitrijević, Franjo Gračanin, Slobodan Grobelnik, Martin Štefančič, Črt Marinček and many others. Our national institution – University Rehabilitation Institute – will be open to all interested for a visitation.
I sincerely hope you will be able to join us for what will be an exceptional scientific event!
Dr Klemen Grabljevec, MD, MSc FEBPRM
President of the European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine
